In Turkish trade this outsourced work is called fason. This page shows where to search for each job and what to ask every company. Fabric sellers are in the Fabrics sector and dye and chemical sellers in Fibers, Dyes and Chemicals; yarn, trims and accessories and textile machinery companies are also in separate sectors.
Which job is in which sub-sector?
Read the sub-sectors in production order:
- Development: fashion design studios draw the collection, pattern making shops make and grade the pattern, garment sampling workshops sew the approval sample.
- Cutting and sewing: fabric cutting workshops split the fabric into pieces; CMT sewing workshops join them.
- Processing and decoration: Textile printing, embroidery, garment washing and dyeing and finishing give the product its pattern, look and color.
- Finishing: ironing and packing prepares goods for shipment.
- Control and compliance: quality control companies catch defects before shipment, textile testing laboratories measure and test the product, and consulting and certification firms guide you through certification.
- Shipping: logistics and customs companies handle transport and customs procedures.
In any contract service, ask about minimums, lead time, trial runs and liability for faults
- Minimum order: Is there a lower limit per piece, meter or job?
- Lead time: When will your job enter the queue, and how many jobs are ahead of it?
- Trial run: Is it charged, and is the result the production reference?
- Capacity: Does it work in its own facility, or pass part of the job to another company?
- Documents: Tax registration certificate and business license? If your customer asks for a certificate or audit report, what are its scope and date?
- Liability for faults: How is faulty work corrected, and who pays?
- Communication: Who is your day-to-day contact, and in which language and channel?
The unit of price depends on the job
Sewing is usually priced per piece by the style's sewing time; printing by method, number of colors and print area; embroidery by stitch count and size; washing by process type; logistics by weight, volume and customs procedure. For comparable quotes, have each state the scope, the unit and what is included.
One company or stage by stage?
Splitting stages among companies lets you pick a specialist for each job. In return, transport between workshops, wastage at each stage and the limits of each company's responsibility stay with you, and a delay at one link passes down the chain. For the whole process, read the contract garment manufacturing guide; for assessing a workshop, how to choose a contract workshop.
Where are dyeing, printing and finishing companies concentrated?
We found no sourced province breakdown for contract services as a whole. For textile finishing, that is dyeing, bleaching, fabric printing, finishing and garment finishing (TOBB product code 13.30), counting firms with a valid capacity report province by province in the Industry Database of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) gives 1,580 records: 470 (29.7%) in Istanbul, 312 (19.7%) in Bursa and 173 (10.9%) in Tekirdağ (TOBB, October 2026). A firm with plants in several provinces is counted in each, and because the data covers only manufacturers with a capacity report, small workshops may be missing. For other services, narrow the list with the province filter. If stages are done in different provinces, add the transport time between workshops to your lead time.

Frequently asked questions
Which service should I start with when setting up production?
The order depends on the product. A common flow is design and tech pack, pattern and sample, pre-production approval, cutting and sewing, processes such as printing, embroidery and washing, ironing and packing, quality control and shipment. Depending on the product, printing and embroidery can be done on cut panels or after sewing, so agree the sequence with the workshops from the start.
Do the companies on this page supply the fabric themselves?
In contract work the party that commissions the job generally supplies the materials, and the workshop only performs the process. Look for full-package production, where the manufacturer also covers the materials, in the apparel sector. Fabric, yarn and trims suppliers are in separate sectors. Have the scope itemized in every quote.
Is a sample or trial run free of charge?
There is no rule; it varies with the service and the company. If you want a printing, embroidery or washing trial, get in writing at the quotation stage whether it is charged, whether the charge is deducted from the order, how long it takes and whether the approved trial counts as the reference in bulk production.
How is the price of a contract service set?
The pricing unit depends on the service; there is no single tariff. Sewing is usually priced per piece by the style's sewing time; printing by method, number of colors and print area; embroidery by stitch count and size; washing by process type; logistics by weight, volume and customs procedure. For comparable quotes, have each state the scope, the unit and what is included.
In which provinces are contract service companies concentrated?
We found no sourced province breakdown covering all contract services. For textile finishing, that is dyeing, bleaching, fabric printing, finishing and garment finishing (TOBB product code 13.30), counting firms with a valid capacity report province by province in the TOBB Industry Database gives 1,580 records, of which 470 are in Istanbul, 312 in Bursa and 173 in Tekirdağ (October 2026). The data covers only manufacturers that hold a capacity report, so small workshops may be missing. For other services, narrow the list with the province filter.
