Guide to Textile Machinery

Textile machinery and equipment suppliers are the companies that make and sell the machines used in textile and garment production, together with those that provide spare parts, used machines and repair service. The scope covers sewing, knitting, weaving, dyeing and finishing, cutting and printing machines. The company that sells a machine, the one that supplies its parts and the one that services it can be three different firms, so start by deciding which machine or which service you need.

Purchasing and after-sales:

The fabric, garments or printing that a machine produces are not listed in this sector; for those, see the relevant manufacturer and contract-workshop categories. To have fabric or yarn dyed and finished, see dyeing and finishing companies; for garment and denim washing, see garment washing companies.

Manufacturer, agent or dealer? Ask about warranty, delivery, parts and a test run

  • Is it the manufacturer, an authorized representative or a dealer? Have the party responsible for warranty and service written into the quote.
  • Does the quote give the exact model name, the equipment and whether the machine is new or used?
  • Is the machine in stock or built to order? Ask about delivery time, and who handles installation and operator training.
  • From which province, and how quickly, do spare parts and service arrive? If the machine will be installed outside Turkey, ask who provides service in your country.
  • Can you see the machine running, or test it with your own material?

Model, automation level and installation scope set a machine's price

Machine type and capacity, level of automation (thread trimmer, electronic control, software), brand and model, attachments, new or used, and the price of installation and training all affect the price. Have the quote state the currency, the Incoterms rule, whether VAT is included, and whether freight and installation are covered. Compare companies on the same scope.

Documents and workplace safety

As of the date of this page (October 8, 2026), placing new machines on the Turkish market is governed by the Machinery Safety Regulation (2006/42/EC) (text in Turkish); the declaration of conformity, CE marking and Turkish-language instructions are requirements of that regulation. In the EU, Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 on machinery will replace the directive from January 20, 2027 (EU-OSHA); watch whether Turkey's alignment rules change.

If the machine will run in a workplace in Turkey, it is work equipment, and the Regulation on Health and Safety Requirements for the Use of Work Equipment (text in Turkish) puts maintenance, inspection and training duties on the employer. For documents and checks specific to your machine, consult your occupational health and safety specialist.

Textile machinery in Turkey: production and imports

According to Adil Nalbant, president of TEMSAD (the Textile Machinery and Accessories Industrialists Association), Turkey's textile machinery exports were $830 million in 2023, and 75% of such exports are dyeing, washing and finishing machines. The same assessment puts 2023 textile machinery imports at $1.95 billion, of which $860 million were yarn and spinning machines (Textotex, May 30, 2024). Depending on the machine group you need, you may deal with a Turkish manufacturer or with an agent or dealer of an imported brand; ask for who covers warranty, spare parts and service to be written into the quote.

Where to look for machinery makers and service support

Of the 578 firms with a valid TOBB capacity report for textile, apparel and leather machinery (product code 28.94), 214 are in Istanbul, 59 in Gaziantep, 42 in Bursa and 39 in Tekirdağ (October 2026). TOBB is the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. The count shows firms that make machines in Turkey; it does not cover dealers of imported brands, importers or service companies. Because the code also includes leather and laundry-type machinery, it is given here under its official name and should not be read as a count of textile machinery makers only.

For service and parts support, give priority to companies in or near the province where the machine will be installed; that is what the province filter is for. A 2007 report of Turkey's State Planning Organization (DPT), prepared for the Ninth Development Plan by its textile, leather and clothing industry specialized commission, names textile clusters in Bursa, Denizli, Uşak, Çorlu-Çerkezköy, Adana, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep and Istanbul (report, p. 202, in Turkish). The report is old and describes where textile production is concentrated, not where machinery sellers are; still, if no suitable company is near you, those provinces are a starting point.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I ask whether a machinery company is a manufacturer, an agent or a dealer?

A manufacturer builds the machine; an agent or dealer sells the product of the manufacturer or of an importer. Responsibility for warranty, spare parts and service depends on the terms of sale, so ask for who covers what to be written into the quote.

Which documents should I ask for with a new machine?

As of the date of this page (October 8, 2026), Turkey's Machinery Safety Regulation (2006/42/EC) applies to new machines placed on the Turkish market. Before placing the machine on the market, the manufacturer or its authorized representative draws up an EC declaration of conformity and affixes the CE marking (art. 5), and the machine must come with Turkish-language instructions (Annex I, 1.7.4). Also ask for the invoice and the warranty terms in writing. The rules that apply in the country where you will use the machine may differ, so check with your own adviser.

I am setting up a factory. Which machine group should I look at first?

Start from the stage of the production chain you will carry out yourself. If you will sew garments, look at sewing and cutting machines; for fabric production, knitting or weaving machines; if you will dye and finish fabric yourself, dyeing and finishing machines; for printing finished goods, printing machines. Deciding up front which stages you will subcontract shortens the investment list.

In which Turkish provinces are textile machinery manufacturers located?

Of the 578 firms with a valid TOBB capacity report for textile, apparel and leather machinery (product code 28.94), 214 are in Istanbul, 59 in Gaziantep, 42 in Bursa and 39 in Tekirdağ (October 2026). The count shows firms that make machines in Turkey; it does not cover dealers of imported brands, importers or service companies. The code also includes leather and laundry-type machinery.

What decides the delivery time when I order a textile machine?

Whether the machine is in stock at the seller, the equipment and attachments you choose on a model ordered in, whether the machine is made in Turkey or imported, and the installation and operator-training schedule all set the time. The exact time varies by company and machine group; have the delivery date and who will carry out installation written into the quote, and if the machine will ship outside Turkey, ask which Incoterms rule the quote is based on.
