Guide to the textile industry in Denizli

Denizli is best known for terry towels, bathrobes and home textiles. Exporter-association records put it third among provinces for ready-to-wear apparel exports in 2025, at US$1.05 billion (6%), behind Istanbul (US$11.57 billion) and Izmir (US$1.30 billion); in yarn, fabric and fiber (the textile and raw materials sector) it was eighth with US$0.27 billion (3%) (AKİB, December 2025). The ranking is valid only within this table; chamber pages that draw on data from TİM, the Turkish Exporters Assembly, can show other values.

How to read the apparel figure

Besides garments, TİM's "ready-to-wear and apparel" sector includes home textile product groups: the AKİB report puts Turkey-wide cotton home textile exports at US$1.00 billion for 2025. The report has no product breakdown by province, so we cannot tell from this source how much of Denizli's US$1.05 billion is garments and how much is home products such as towels or bed linen. Ask each company which products it actually makes.

The textile cluster in Denizli

In 2007 a State Planning Organization report on textiles described Denizli as a cluster for towels, bathrobes and home textiles, an assessment now nearly twenty years old. More recently, the Ministry of Trade's 2026 home textiles report, built on 2025 data, counts Denizli among the provinces where towel and bed-sheet production is clustered. According to the same report, Turkey's home textile exports were US$2.40 billion in 2025, with bed sheets first at US$617.1 million (25.7%) and towels and bathrobes the third product group at US$309.8 million (12.9%). These product figures are for Turkey as a whole and cannot be split by province. The Denizli Chamber of Industry's page gives the province's total exports in 2025 as US$4.68 billion.

Denizli Organized Industrial Zone is in Honaz, 18 kilometers from the city. The Denizli Chamber of Commerce's website also presents a "Transformation to Technical Textiles in Denizli" project under the Competitive Sectors Programme financed by the EU and the Turkish government; its goals include establishing a Denizli Technical Textile Center and cluster (the page is undated). This points to an effort to move toward technical textiles alongside traditional home textiles, but it says nothing about current capacity.

What to ask a supplier in Denizli

Do not assume that a company based in Denizli weaves, dyes and sews in one facility; have the quote state where each stage is done. For towels and bathrobes, ask for pile yarn, weight (GSM) and absorbency test results (How to Judge Terry Towel Quality); for bed linen, ask for the fabric type and thread count (Bed Linen Fabric Types). Depending on your need, open the towels and bathrobes, bed linen and bedding or apparel page and select Denizli in the province filter.

Frequently asked questions

What is Denizli known for in textiles?

The State Planning Organization's 2007 report names Denizli as a towel, bathrobe and home textile cluster, and the Ministry of Trade's home textiles report (2026 edition) lists it among the provinces where towel and bed sheet production is concentrated. According to exporter-association records, Denizli ranked third in apparel exports in 2025 (US$1.05 billion) and eighth in yarn, fabric and fiber exports (US$0.27 billion).

How large are Denizli's apparel exports?

According to exporter-association records, US$1.05 billion in 2025 (6% of Turkey's total), down 3% on 2024. TİM's apparel sector also covers home textile product groups, and the report has no product breakdown by province, so we cannot say how much of the figure is garments (AKİB, December 2025).

How can I tell whether a Denizli company weaves and sews in the same facility?

The head office address does not show it. Ask for a written statement of which facility handles weaving, dyeing and sewing, ask for the Industry Registry Certificate (Sanayi Sicil Belgesi) of the production site, and, if possible, request a visit or a live video tour.
