Izmir is Turkey's second-largest ready-to-wear apparel exporting province after Istanbul, according to exporter-association records: US$1.30 billion in 2025, or 8% of the national total. Its exports fell 4% on 2024, while the decline for Turkey as a whole was 6%. In textile and raw materials (yarn, fabric, fiber) exports Izmir ranked sixth with US$0.38 billion (4%), and those exports rose 7% (AKİB, December 2025 reports).

The textile cluster in Izmir

According to the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry's (EBSO) list of organized industrial zones (OSBs; page © 2025), textiles are among the sectors of the Buca Ege OSB, the Bergama OSB and the Kınık OSB. For Bergama the list also names cotton ginning (çırçır, the first process that separates cotton fiber from the seed), and for Kınık apparel manufacturing. Textiles are also among the sectors of the Izmir Atatürk OSB and the Aliağa Chemical Specialized and Mixed OSB. The list gives no company counts, so it does not mean that most producers in these zones are textile companies.

The Ministry of Trade's home textiles report (2026 edition, based on 2025 data) lists Izmir as one of five provinces where home textile production is concentrated, without a product breakdown. The State Planning Organization's 2007 report adds that the apparel supporting industry (products such as buttons, zippers and labels) is produced in Izmir as well as in Istanbul; that report is almost twenty years old.

Finding suppliers in Izmir

According to the records, Izmir's share is higher in apparel exports than in yarn and fabric (8% against 4%). To find garment manufacturers and CMT workshops, add Izmir to the province filter on the apparel and CMT sewing pages, and use How to Choose a CMT Workshop in Turkey to assess a workshop. For fabric and yarn, also try the filters for Istanbul (41%), Gaziantep (16%) and Bursa (13%).

An export record shows the province where a company is registered, not its production address. Ask in writing at which facility your order will be produced. For checks to run before a first order, see Clothing Manufacturers in Turkey.
