Usak stands out in textiles for specialization rather than volume. According to exporter-association records, its textile and raw materials (yarn, fabric, fiber) exports were US$84.4 million in 2025, about 1% of Turkey's total (AKİB, December 2025). Its carpet exports were US$102.4 million (3.6%) in October 2025-September 2026, 34% higher than in the previous 12 months, which makes it the third carpet province after Gaziantep and Istanbul (GAİB Carpet Exporters' Association, October 5, 2026). Usak was not among the top ten provinces in apparel exports in 2025; the smallest of the top ten exported US$146 million.
The textile cluster in Usak
The State Planning Organization's 2007 textile report names Usak as a woolen-type (streichgarn) yarn and blanket cluster; the report is almost twenty years old. The Ministry of Trade's home textiles report (2026 edition, based on 2025 data) lists Usak as a province where blanket production is concentrated. Turkey's blanket exports were US$62.4 million in 2025 (down 10.3%), and this figure is not broken down by province. The website of the Usak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UTSO) lists Usak Carpet (Uşak Halısı) and Eşme Yörük Kilim (Eşme Yörük Kilimi) among the province's geographical-indication products.
Yarn, fiber and recycling
The sector list on the Usak Organized Industrial Zone's website (first entries displayed) shows these textile production lines: a sizing facility (haşılhane), open-end yarn production, rejenere (regenerated) yarn and polyester staple fiber production that includes recycling. The same site reports a program called "Global Trends in Textile Recycling and the Position of Usak Industry", hosted by the zone and UTSO and coordinated by the Aegean Exporters' Associations (the date in the news list is December 1, 2023); the report gives no figures. Because the list shows only the first entries, do not draw conclusions about the whole zone from it.
Choosing a supplier in Usak
- For recycled content claims, ask for the percentage and the certificate (for example GRS), and ask about its scope, its validity date and whether it covers the company or the product. The Textile Certifications Guide explains the main schemes.
- For blankets and carpets, get the fiber composition, weight and size in writing; for carpets, see the pile and density questions on the carpet and rug manufacturers page.
- For woolen and synthetic yarn, narrow the wool yarn and polyester yarn lists with the province filter.
