Key facts

  • In this directory, home textiles cover towels and bathrobes, bed linen and bedspreads, pillows and comforters, blankets, curtains and carpets; upholstery fabric is listed under Fabrics.
  • A 2007 State Planning Organization report names Denizli for towels and bathrobes, Uşak for woolen-type yarn and blankets, and Gaziantep for nonwovens and machine-made carpets.
  • The province filter shows where a company is headquartered, not where a product is made; the yarn, weaving and sewing of one product can be done in different provinces.

Guide to Home Textiles

Home textiles are the textile products used in homes, hotels and other contract settings, such as towels, bed linen, pillows and comforters, blankets, curtains and carpets; this directory lists their manufacturers and suppliers by sub-sector. Your first job as a buyer is to decide which product group you need, because each group has its own technical criteria and its own quote questions.

Sub-sectors in the directory

  • Towels and bathrobes: face, hand, bath and beach towels, bathrobes, peshtemal (a thin, flat-woven Turkish bath cloth) and bath mats.
  • Bed linen and bedspreads: duvet cover sets, sheets, pillowcases, coverlets (pike) and bedspreads.
  • Pillows and comforters: pillows, comforters (duvets), sleep sets and mattress protectors.
  • Blankets: woven, knitted and brushed blankets, baby blankets and throws.
  • Curtains: sheer, drapery (heavy) and blackout curtains, and curtain fabric.
  • Carpets and rugs: machine-made, tufted and hand-woven carpets and rugs.

Furniture and sofa fabric is not in this sector: see upholstery fabric under Fabrics.

Where the supplier sits in the production chain

In home textiles the same company name can mean very different businesses. Three types are common:

  1. Integrated manufacturer: does all or part of yarn, weaving, finishing and sewing in its own plant. This type has the most control over color, weight (GSM) and lead time.
  2. Sewing and made-up goods company: buys fabric ready-made, then cuts, sews and packs it. This stage can also be run through contract workshops.
  3. Brand or wholesaler: has the product made by another manufacturer and sells it under its own label (private label).

Ask each company you request a quote from: "Who weaves the fabric, and who does the dyeing and sewing?" The answer shows the lead time, who is responsible for quality and which stages are subcontracted.

First questions by sub-sector

Sub-sector Key technical criteria First question to ask
Towels and bathrobes Pile yarn, GSM, absorbency Is there a test report for absorbency and dimensional change after washing?
Bed linen and bedspreads Fabric type, thread count, shrinkage What are the measurements and color fastness after washing?
Pillows and comforters Filling type and weight, cover fabric Are the filling type, weight and cover fabric each stated separately in the quote?
Blankets Fiber composition, weight per piece, size Are the composition, size and weight per piece stated together in the quote?
Curtains Pleat ratio, light fastness, flame retardancy Which pleat ratio is the per-meter price based on?
Carpets and rugs Pile yarn, density, use class Is it for a home or a commercial space, and in which class?

Production centers

The Ninth Development Plan textile specialization commission report (State Planning Organization, Ankara 2007, in Turkish) names Denizli as a textile cluster for towels, bathrobes and home textiles, Uşak for woolen-type (streichgarn) yarn and blankets, and Gaziantep for polypropylene, nonwovens and machine-made carpet, which it describes as "small" at the time. Uşak is also known for the historic carpets that bear its name.

Current figures come from the Industry Database of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). Of the 1,185 firms with a valid capacity report for made-up household textiles (code 13.92.1: blankets, bed linen, table linen, towels, curtains and furnishing articles), 343 are in Denizli, 239 in Istanbul and 155 in Bursa (October 2026). Kayseri (68), Izmir (58), Ankara (54) and Uşak (32) follow; carpets and filled pillows and comforters are not part of this code. The Ministry of Trade's Home Textiles Sector Report (2026) also says production is concentrated in Bursa, Denizli, Istanbul, Izmir and Uşak.

These counts do not cover all of home textiles: TOBB counts only manufacturers that hold a capacity report, by the province of the production facility the report belongs to, and the yarn, weaving and sewing of the same product can be done in different provinces. Use the province filter, but read a company's province as where it is headquartered, not where the product is made, and ask about each production stage.

Prepare before you request a quote

A quote is only as good as your specification. State the product type, dimensions, fiber composition, quantity, color and pattern expectations, packaging and labeling requirements, target market and the certificates you want (for example OEKO-TEX). Get sample approval in writing; for custom colors, patterns and logos, agree the permitted deviation between the approved sample and bulk production at the outset. Add the labeling and care-symbol rules of your destination country to the specification.

Frequently asked questions

What should I ask a home textile supplier first?

Ask about the production chain: does the company weave the fabric itself, and where does it do the dyeing and sewing? Then ask for test reports that suit the product group (absorbency for towels, shrinkage for bed linen, flame retardancy for curtains) and for its sampling terms.

Can sewing be subcontracted in home textiles?

Yes. For products that are cut and sewn (duvet covers, curtains, bathrobes), the sewing stage can be run by contract workshops (fason in Turkish). Weaving and dyeing the fabric require a separate plant and investment.

Are products for hotels and other contract use the same as retail products?

Generally not. Contract products are chosen for frequent washing and heavy use, so criteria such as wash durability, flame retardancy and dimensional tolerance come to the fore in the specification. When you request a quote, state the place of use (hotel, hospital, home) and the expected washing frequency.

What decides the minimum order quantity (MOQ) in home textiles?

There is no single figure; it varies with the sub-sector, the product and the type of job. With stock colors, designs and standard sizes, working in small quantities is often possible. A custom color, design, size or logo raises the minimum order, because it needs a dye or print lot, weaving preparation or an embroidery program. A company that weaves and dyes its own fabric is more flexible on color, weight (GSM) and lead time; for a company that buys fabric from outside, lead time depends on its fabric supplier. Ask for the figure in writing, broken down by product, color and size.

Where are home textile manufacturers concentrated in Turkey?

In the Industry Database of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), 343 of the 1,185 firms with a valid capacity report for made-up household textiles (code 13.92.1: blankets, bed linen, table linen, towels, curtains and furnishing articles) are in Denizli, 239 in Istanbul and 155 in Bursa (October 2026). The Ministry of Trade's Home Textiles Sector Report (2026) also says production is concentrated in Bursa, Denizli, Istanbul, Izmir and Uşak. The picture changes by sub-sector; the towel, bed linen, curtain and carpet pages give the province breakdown for their own product codes. The province is that of the production facility the capacity report belongs to; a company's headquarters can be in another province.
