Guide to the textile industry in Kahramanmaras

Kahramanmaras is one of the four largest provinces in Turkey for yarn, fabric and fiber exports. In January-September 2026 it ranked fourth with US$569.6 million, behind Istanbul, Gaziantep and Bursa. That is an 8% share of Turkey's total and 5% lower than in the same period of 2025 (AKİB, September 2026; exporter-association records). Official reports point to cotton yarn and circular knitting as the province's strengths.

Cotton yarn and circular knitting cluster

The State Planning Organization (DPT) report on the textile, leather and clothing industries (2007) names Kahramanmaras as a cluster for cotton yarn, especially open-end yarn. The 2020 sector report of the Corlu Chamber of Commerce and Industry says yarn production is concentrated in Kahramanmaras, Istanbul, Gaziantep and Bursa. On circular knitting capacity alone, the same report lists Istanbul first, followed by Tekirdag, Kahramanmaras (written "Maraş" in the report) and Bursa in that order.

Both reports are old, and the maps in the 2020 report rest on 2016-2017 SGK (Social Security Institution) data. Neither shows today's distribution of companies.

Industrial zone and exporter list

The official page of the Kahramanmaras organized industrial zone (OSB) lists 71 of its 99 parcels as industrial parcels and names yarn, fabric and dye among the zone's sectors. The Kahramanmaras Chamber of Commerce and Industry publishes a public exporter list that shows one main sector for each company, such as "textile and raw materials" or "ready-to-wear and apparel". According to the chamber, the number of exporting companies in the province (all sectors) was 387 in 2020, 837 in 2024 and 824 in 2025.

The list is a good starting point for a supplier scan. Still, check for yourself whether a listed company is a spinner, a fabric mill or a trader.

Notes for buyers

  • The province shows where exports are recorded. An export record shows the exporter's registered province, which can differ from where the goods are made. Have the quote state which facility will make the yarn or fabric and whether the seller is a producer or an intermediary.
  • Ask for a detailed yarn quote: count and ply, spinning system (ring, open-end, compact), carded or combed, and a lot-based quality report, together with the MOQ (minimum order quantity) and lead time. You can convert counts with the yarn count converter. Compare per-kilogram prices only between quotes for the same count, ply and spinning system.
  • Confirm the status of the facility. On February 6, 2023, two major earthquakes (M 7.8 and M 7.5, according to USGS) had their epicenters in the Pazarcik and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaras province. Get the current capacity and the production site in writing before you place an order.
  • Compare companies: on the cotton yarn, knitted fabrics and dyeing pages you can select Kahramanmaras with the province filter.
