Guide to the textile industry in Hatay

Textile in Hatay rests on cotton farming, ginning and pressing plants, and yarn and weaving mills, while the province's industrial zones lean toward iron and steel. According to the September 2026 report of the Mediterranean Exporters' Associations (AKİB), Hatay's yarn, fabric and fiber exports were US$19.6 million in January-September 2026 (up 17% on the same period a year earlier), ranking 16th in that table. Most of the information below predates the February 6, 2023 earthquakes, so verify the address where production is actually running before you choose a supplier.

Cotton, ginning and yarn

The Hatay page of the Eastern Mediterranean Development Agency (DOĞAKA) says the province has 72 ginning and pressing plants with an industry registry certificate and 3 yarn plants. Ginning (çırçır) is the first process that separates cotton fiber from the seed. The page gives no date for these counts and uses TÜİK's 2016 data for cotton production. It adds that large-scale plants that spin, weave and dye cotton and make towels, underwear and cleaning cloths are located in the province. The raw material side is strong: according to the July 2025 bulletin of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's TEPGE (Agricultural Economics and Policy Development Institute), about 7.8% of Turkey's cotton production in 2024 came from Hatay.

Industrial zones lean toward iron and steel

According to DOĞAKA's page on organized industrial zones (OSBs; 2017 data), 98% of the establishments in the Payas OSB make iron and iron products, and half of the producing plants in the Iskenderun OSB are iron and steel. The Antakya OSB was established in 1995 and employed 1,801 people in the first half of 2017. The page gives no textile breakdown for any OSB, so looking for a textile company in Hatay works from the company's address and industry registry record (Sanayi Sicil Belgesi), not from the OSB list. In apparel exports, Hatay is not among the top ten provinces in the January-September 2026 table (AKİB).

How current is the data after the earthquake?

Hatay is one of the provinces hit hardest by the February 6, 2023 earthquakes. According to the 2026 reconstruction report of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget (SBB), the province ranks first among the 11 affected provinces in the number of moderately or more heavily damaged homes (234,115) and commercial buildings (41,469) (Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change damage assessment, January 26, 2026). The same report lists Hatay among the earthquake-zone provinces that increased their exports in 2023-2025. The plant and employee counts on DOĞAKA's cotton and OSB pages are dated 2016-2017 or carry no date, so they do not show today's capacity. Ask the company for a current industry registry certificate, a capacity report and the address where production is running. The checklist in How to Choose a CMT Workshop in Turkey applies here as well.

Search by product group

In the categories that match the product groups DOĞAKA lists, you can select Hatay with the province filter: cotton yarn, yarn, towels and bathrobes and underwear. The number of registered companies in Hatay in these categories may change; if the list shows none, also look at manufacturers in neighboring provinces.
