Adana is known in textiles for cotton weaving and finishing: the State Planning Organization's (DPT) 2007 report lists Adana as a cluster in this field. Current export records also place the province near the top. In January-September 2026 it ranked fifth in Turkey in textile and raw materials (yarn, fabric, fiber) exports with US$388.8 million (AKİB, September 2026). Official reports do not publish the current distribution of companies, so verify them company by company.
Cotton weaving and finishing
The DPT's specialization commission report (2007) highlights cotton weaving and finishing in Adana, and the 2020 sector report of the Corlu Chamber of Commerce and Industry repeats the finding. Both reports are old and give no company counts.
Cotton prices affect yarn and fabric costs, so the publications of the Adana Commodity Exchange are one indicator. Besides its daily trading price table, the exchange publishes an "Overseas Markets (Cotton)" bulletin, and its overseas closing table includes New York cotton futures. This page gives no prices; see the exchange's website for dated current values.
Industrial zones
According to the official page of the Adana Haci Sabanci organized industrial zone (OSB), the zone covers 2,227 hectares and provides jobs for 41,723 people through 532 enterprises of 498 companies, 25 of them foreign-capital. The page gives no sector breakdown and no date, so verify the number of textile companies company by company. The site of the Adana Chamber of Industry (ADASO) also mentions the Ceyhan OSB, the Kozan OSB and the Yumurtalik Free Zone.
Export data
According to AKİB's September 2026 reports, Adana's January-September 2026 exports were:
- Textile and raw materials (yarn, fabric, fiber): US$388.8 million, up 11% on the same period of 2025 and 5% of Turkey's total; fifth in Turkey.
- Ready-to-wear and apparel: US$102.5 million, down 11% and about 1% of Turkey's total; tenth, the last place in the top-ten list.
These figures show the province where the exporter is registered, so production may take place elsewhere. According to a news item on ADASO's site dated October 4, 2026, the province's total exports (all sectors) rose 17.1% in September and 14.2% in the first nine months of 2026. That figure is not textile-specific.
Notes for buyers
- If you are buying cotton fabric, select Adana with the province filter on the woven fabrics, cotton yarn and dyeing and finishing pages.
- Have the quote state the yarn count, the fabric GSM and the shrinkage after dyeing. You can work out GSM from a sample with the fabric GSM calculator.
- Ask about the source of the cotton. Claims about cotton origin, organic cotton or Better Cotton (BCI) should be backed by documents. Compare what the certificates cover in the textile certifications guide.
- If you are looking for garments, use the province filter on the woven apparel and knit apparel pages, and verify the production address separately.
