Key facts

  • Turkey's MEGEP vocational module says every sewing machine has a needle system; needle choice first considers compatibility with the machine, then the product being sewn.
  • Even one manufacturer's overlock, coverstitch and buttonhole machines may use different needle systems; take the system code from the manual or the old needle's box (JUKI brochures).
  • For woven fabric, the same MEGEP module gives needle sizes of Nm 60–80 for fine fabric, 80–90 for medium and 90–120 or thicker for heavy fabric.
  • Of the 162 firms with a valid TOBB capacity report for textile, apparel and leather machinery parts (code 28.94.5), 89 are in Istanbul (October 2026).

Guide to Textile Machinery Spare Parts

Textile machinery spare parts suppliers sell the consumable and wear parts that keep a machine from stopping: needles, loopers, presser feet, knives, belts, gears, motors and electronic boards. Companies selling parts for sewing, knitting, weaving, dyeing and finishing, cutting and printing machines are listed on this page. If you are looking for the machine itself, see industrial sewing machines and the other textile machinery categories. If you need a specialist to fit the part, see textile machinery repair companies.

Identify the spare part correctly

A correct description lowers the risk of ordering the wrong part. Send the supplier the machine's brand, model and serial number, the manufacturer's part code or catalog page if you have it; a photo and the measurements of the old part also help.

Needles carry two separate pieces of information. According to the Turkish Ministry of National Education's MEGEP vocational module Makinede Düz Dikiş (straight stitching on the machine), every sewing machine has a needle system, and needle choice first considers compatibility with the machine system, then the properties of the product being sewn. Even among machines from one manufacturer, overlock, coverstitch and buttonhole machines may use different needle systems; take the system code from the machine's manual or the box of the old needle. Needle thickness (Nm) is chosen for the fabric: for woven fabric the same module gives Nm 60–80 for fine fabric, 80–90 for medium and 90–120 or thicker for heavy fabric. For machine and stitch types, see our guide to industrial sewing machine types.

Original or aftermarket spare parts?

A part may be made by the machine manufacturer, by a supplier it has authorized, or by an independent maker. Ask the supplier:

  • Who makes the part, and how is compatibility with the machine ensured?
  • What are the return and exchange terms for a part that does not fit?
  • Is the part guaranteed, and could it affect your machine's warranty?

Stock and lead time

  • Is the part in stock or made to order? Have the lead time written as a date.
  • Can parts for a discontinued model still be found? This question becomes critical when you buy a used textile machine.
  • Is there a minimum order quantity for consumables, and are parts sold singly or by the box or pack? Can an urgent order be dispatched the same day?
  • If the parts will be shipped abroad, ask which Incoterms rule the quote is based on and who handles export paperwork.
  • Consider keeping a spare of any critical part whose failure could stop your line.

Where are spare parts makers located?

Of the 162 firms with a valid TOBB capacity report for parts and accessories of textile, apparel and leather machinery (product code 28.94.5), 89 are in Istanbul and 25 in Gaziantep (October 2026). The database is run by TOBB, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. The count shows firms that make parts in Turkey; it does not cover dealers that sell imported parts. The code also includes parts of leather-processing machines and of household or laundry-type washing machines, so it is given under its official group name; if you need parts for one machine group, ask the company which brands and models it supplies. For fast delivery, give priority to companies in your own province or a nearby one.

Part type, original or aftermarket, and quantity set the price of a part

The type of part (a simple consumable, or an electronic board or motor), whether it is original or aftermarket, the quantity (single part or pack), stock status and freight for urgent orders all set the price. Ask several suppliers to quote the same part code, and judge the delivery time together with the price.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy spare parts from the machine seller or from an independent parts supplier?

Both routes are used. The company that sold the machine, or the manufacturer's authorized representative, is generally better placed to supply original parts and to keep the warranty intact. Independent parts suppliers may offer parts for several brands and aftermarket options in one place. Ask both for the price, lead time and return terms for the same part code before you decide.

What can I do if a part for a discontinued machine cannot be found?

First ask several spare parts suppliers and the brand's representative using the part code; you may find an independent maker of an aftermarket part, or a part shared with another model in the same family. If nothing turns up, discuss repair or made-to-measure manufacture with a technical service company. For critical parts, weigh this risk before you buy the machine.

Does using an aftermarket part affect the warranty?

It depends on the terms in the warranty document. A manufacturer's or seller's warranty may exclude parts that are not original. Before fitting an aftermarket part to a machine that is still under warranty, read the terms or ask the seller in writing.

What do the minimum order quantity and lead time of a spare part depend on?

Both depend on the part and the company. For consumable parts, some companies sell single pieces while others sell by the box or pack, so ask up front. A part in stock can ship quickly; for a part ordered in, the time depends on the supplier. Have the lead time written as a date, and for an urgent order ask about same-day dispatch and any extra freight charge.
