A blanket is a finished-edge woven, knitted or napped home textile product used on a bed, on a sofa or in a crib. This category lists Turkish manufacturers and wholesalers of acrylic, wool, polyester and cotton blankets, baby blankets, sofa throws and TV blankets. Comforters, pillows and sleep sets are under Pillows and Comforters; duvet cover sets, sheets, coverlets and bedspreads under Bed Linen; polar and welsoft fabric sold by the meter under Polar Fleece. Electric blankets are appliances and out of scope.
Usak and the blanket cluster
The Ministry of Trade's Home Textiles Sector Report (2026 edition) names Usak as a province where blanket production is concentrated. The same report puts Turkey's blanket exports at US$62.4 million in 2025, down 10.3% from the year before and 2.6% of home textile exports. A February 2024 Anadolu Agency report says about 34 facilities in Usak make about 14 million blankets a year; in the same report, the president of the Usak Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the province accounts for 85% of Turkey's blanket production capacity. These are a news report and a chamber statement, not official statistics.
According to a September 2023 Anadolu Agency report, part of the yarn recycled in Usak goes into kilims and blankets. For any recycled-content claim, ask for the percentage and the certificate (such as GRS); recyclers are listed under Textile Recycling.
Put fiber blend, size and weight in the quote
“Mink” (vizon in Turkish) is a trade name and “plush” is a surface type; neither shows the fiber content. Have the quote state the construction (plain or jacquard woven, or knitted), the surface (napped, plush or plain), the fiber blend by name and percentage, the size in cm (add inches if your market uses them) and the weight per piece in grams.
Weight alone does not show how warm a blanket is; fiber and construction matter too. After napping (şardon in Turkish quotes), shearing evens the pile height but also cuts fibers, so ask at which stage the weight is measured, and ask for a test report behind any warmth claim. For yarn, see Acrylic Yarn, Wool Yarn and Polyester Yarn.
MOQ: stock item or custom production?
Small quantities are often possible in designs, colors and sizes a manufacturer already stocks; a custom design, color, size or label needs production planning, so the minimum grows. There is no official MOQ figure. Ask for the quantity per design, color and size, and have it written whether the lead time starts from the approved sample or from the order. For blankets under your own brand, see the private label guide, which uses clothing as its example.
Pilling, flammability, labels and baby products
Napped and plush surfaces can pill. Write the pilling grade and the test method (for example, modified Martindale, EN ISO 12945-2) into the specification, for the approved sample and after washing (testing laboratories). EN ISO 12952-2 is a test method for the ignitability of bedding items, blankets included, using a match-flame equivalent source; whether it is requested depends on the target market and the buyer's specification.
As of the date of this article, a fiber composition label is mandatory on blankets too: they are not on the exemption lists of Turkey's fiber labeling regulation or of EU Regulation 1007/2011. The label guide gives the details, with a focus on clothing; confirm your target market's rules with a specialist.
For baby blankets, ask for an OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certificate in Product Class I (products for children up to three years old). A certificate is issued for one year, so check its scope and date (see the certification guide).

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for blankets?
There is no official or sourced MOQ figure. In industry practice, small quantities are often possible in a design, color and size the manufacturer already stocks; a custom design, color, size or label needs production planning, so the minimum rises. Ask for the quantity per design, color and size, and get in writing how long sample approval takes and the date from which the lead time starts.
What determines the price of a blanket?
Fiber type and weight per piece, construction (woven, jacquard or knitted), pattern and finishing such as napping, dyeing or printing, edge finishing, packaging and order quantity. Compare quotes on the same size, weight and fiber blend; a quote with a lower weight or a different fiber may look cheaper, but it is not the same product.
Where are Turkey's blanket manufacturers concentrated?
The Ministry of Trade's Home Textiles Sector Report names Usak as a province where blanket production is concentrated. In a February 2024 Anadolu Agency report, the president of the Usak Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the province accounts for 85% of Turkey's blanket production capacity; this is a chamber statement, not an official statistic. A company's province shows where it is based, not where the product is made.
Which certificate should I ask for on baby blankets?
In OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, Product Class I covers products for babies and children up to three years old, and the strictest limit values apply in this class; a certificate is issued for one year. Check the certificate holder, the scope and the expiry date, and make sure the product named on the certificate is the same as the one in your order.
