List your company for freeSuits and blazers is the category of companies that make lined, structured tailored clothing from woven fabric: blazers, women’s and men’s tailored jackets, vests, men’s and women’s suits (jacket-and-pants or jacket-and-skirt sets), wedding suits and tuxedos. For wedding gowns, evening dresses and engagement dresses, see wedding and evening dresses; for denim jackets, see denim apparel; for seasonal products such as coats and padded jackets, see outerwear.
In the TOBB Industry Database, 677 of the 898 firms with a valid capacity report for women’s woven jackets and blazers (product code 14.13.33) and 426 of the 572 for men’s (14.13.23) are in Istanbul (October 2026). Suit codes are smaller: for men’s suits (14.13.22), 61 of 136 firms are in Istanbul and 17 in Izmir; for women’s suits (14.13.32), 95 of 176 are in Istanbul. Manufacturers lacking a capacity report are not reflected in the count.
A tailored jacket joins the outer fabric to interlining, lining and, where needed, shoulder pads. The shrinkage and heat behavior of the layers must match, and an incompatible combination can spoil how the jacket hangs. For this reason a tailored jacket needs more operations, more intermediate pressing and more skilled pattern knowledge than a shirt or a simple pair of pants. Not every sewing workshop has tailoring experience: ask to see, on a sample, jackets the company has made before in comparable fabrics (wool blend, polyester-viscose, gabardine).
Fabric type and consumption; trims such as interlining, lining, buttons and labels; pocket and collar construction; the number of operations in the jacket; pattern and fit rounds; and order quantity set the price. Intermediate pressing and final ironing can be a separate item from sewing labor, so ask for a separate line in the quote. In expensive fabrics such as wool blends, cutting wastage weighs more in the total cost; get the wastage allowance in writing.
Keep the first order small. At the sample and pre-production stages, check the hang, shoulder and collar against your own size chart, and state the tolerances for shoulder, chest, waist, length and sleeve separately. Write the quality-control method before shipment (measurement check, pressing and label inspection) into the contract. If the workshop cannot do everything itself, find out at the start which process it passes to whom.
A tailored jacket is multi-layered: the outer fabric, interlining, lining and, where needed, shoulder pads work together. Fusing interlining, collar and pocket making, lining, sleeve setting and several intermediate pressing stages increase the number and the length of operations. When comparing quotes, use the same fabric, lining and number of fitting rounds as the basis.
It is not compulsory. A single workshop cuts the jacket and pants from the same fabric and manages shade and measurement matching itself. If two workshops will work, split the fabric from a single lot and count what each receives, and give both the same size chart and the approved sample; a shade difference can appear between pieces cut from different lots.
