List your company for freeElastics and tapes are the least conspicuous but most stressed parts of a garment: waists, cuffs, hems and underwear bands are stretched, washed and ironed continuously. So when choosing a supplier, stretch, recovery and length change after washing come before price.
Waistband elastic and elastic band, jacquard elastic, grosgrain and satin ribbon, other decorative ribbon (kurdele), narrow woven fabrics and webbing (fabric woven as a narrow strip), lace trim and guipure motifs, bias binding, cord and drawstring, and hook-and-loop tape. Lace fabric is listed under fabrics; this page lists only lace trim and guipure motifs. The spandex (elastane) yarn inside the elastic is listed in the yarn sector under spandex yarn. Attaching the elastic to the garment is the sewing workshop's job; on knit garments, coverstitch machines are used to attach bands and elastic.
Of the 147 firms with a valid TOBB capacity report for waistband and cuff elastic, gimped elastic and elastic tape (code 13.96.17.30.01), 96 are in Istanbul, followed by Bursa (8) and Denizli (7) (October 2026). The code covers elastics only; firms that make only ribbon, bias tape or hook-and-loop tape are not in this count. Knitted elastics may be registered under knitted fabric codes and may be missing from it. The full English name of TOBB is the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye.
The quote should include width (mm), construction (knitted, woven or braided), color, expected stretch and recovery, unit (reel, roll or meter) and where it will be used. Knitted, woven and braided elastic differ in softness, thickness and behavior in sewing; decide which suits the use with a sample. Because elastic is stretched as it is sewn, write the tension ratio in the tech pack and verify the finished measurement on the sample.
Fiber content and spandex percentage, width, construction, logo or pattern (jacquard, print), color and order quantity. For custom work such as a logo waistband, set-up and minimum quantity also show up in the price.
On the same width, construction (knitted, woven or braided), fiber content and unit. If one company quotes per meter and another per reel, ask for the length on the reel and convert both prices to the same unit. Ask for extras such as logo, jacquard or custom color to be written as separate line items.
Not without limits. In Europe, EN 14682 (current edition 2014) sets length and placement requirements for cords and drawstrings on children's clothing; the requirements vary by age group and by the area of the garment. In commonly used quality-control defect lists, a drawstring beyond the permitted limit is a critical defect. As of October 2026 the standard is under revision, so ask your test laboratory which requirement applies to your product and market.
Elastic and tape are dyed separately from the fabric, so a shade difference can occur. Ask for an approved color sample, compare the color with the fabric under the same light and get the approval in writing.
Price depends on fiber content and spandex percentage, width, construction (knitted, woven or braided), logo or pattern (jacquard, print), color and order quantity. The minimum can be calculated per width and color; for custom work such as custom dyeing or a logo waistband, set-up, minimum and lead time can differ from stock items, so no single number applies. Ask for these items to be written separately in the quote.
