Glossary entries

  • Lead time is the time from placing a garment order to delivery of the finished goods, and the delivery date is the day the order is due. Turkish suppliers use one word, termin, for both the due date and the time allowed from order to delivery.

  • MOQ stands for minimum order quantity: the smallest number of pieces, meters or kilograms a manufacturer or supplier will accept in one order. In clothing it is not one figure but several, set separately for each style, fabric color and trim.

  • A swatch card (Turkish: kartela) is a collection of small sample pieces that a manufacturer or supplier prepares to show customers its fabric, yarn, trim or color options, so the buyer can choose what to order. Depending on what it shows, it is also called a swatch book, shade card, color card or trim card.
